Short Term Rental Secrets / GUIDE

Short-term rental launch checklist

Make the handoff from purchase to hospitality a documented process.

Assign ownership of the launch

Create one list covering repairs, furnishing, photography, listing details, access, cleaning, supplies, and guest communication. Give every item an owner, a due date, and a definition of finished. Track dependencies: photography belongs after setup, and a booking calendar belongs after you can actually host.

Test the guest journey

Arrive at the property as a guest would. Follow the parking instructions, enter with the guest access method, connect to Wi-Fi, and find the basics without coaching. Rewrite anything that requires insider knowledge. Keep access information in the appropriate private guest channel rather than in a public guide.

Rehearse a turnover

Walk through a clean with the person or company who will perform it. Agree on linen handling, consumable replenishment, damage reporting, and the evidence that marks the property ready. Photograph the intended setup so another cleaner can cover an absence.

Plan an imperfect first week

Have an escalation contact and a maintenance plan. Identify what happens when a guest cannot enter, a cleaner cannot attend, or an appliance stops working. A written fallback makes these decisions easier when timing is tight. Open the calendar only when the operating team agrees the property is ready.
